The HERO INITIATIVE if you don’t know yet, is a non profit org, whose only intention is to hold a hand to our elder comic book creators. I’ve always feel honored when they ask me to colaborate in their events, like this one.

Quick post to let you guys know what I’m doing these days, this is the cover for issue 25. I’m half way through it, this will be my last issue in the Avengers the initiative, I loved doing it, Chris Cage rocks!

Muchachos y muchachas, primero que nada FELIZ 2009, que estos tiempos de crisis nos pasen de largo y que podamos aun contra las expectativas, generar bienestar para nosotros y para quienes nos rodean.

Ahora bien, tendría que comenzar ofreciendo disculpas como siempre, pero la verdad siempre he dicho que es más importante cumplirles en el trabajo que andar posteando notitas aca en el blog, les comento que me encuentro dibujando el AVENGERS THE INITIATIVE # 22, con una fecha de entrega mortal, así que el tiempo libre no existe en estos días. Con todo y eso me pongo a escribirles para invitarlos de nuevo a un evento, esta ocasión tiene un sentido  muy especial para los que como yo tuvimos a nuestro primer SUPERHEROE en la imagen de SANTO EL ENMASCARADO DE PLATA, resulta que varios comiqueros, ilustradores y  caricaturistas de México fuimos invitados a participar en esta muestra como parte de los eventos para conmemorar el XXV aniversario luctuoso de este personaje de trascendecia cultural para nosotros los mexicanos.

Sin más les presento la invitación para que los que gusten acompañarnos lo hagan el próximo sábado 7 de febrero.

Les aconsejo que lleven su camarita por que la inauguración estará a cargo por supuesto de nadie más que EL HIJO DEL SANTO, quien si no?

Hey guys first of all, happy new year 2009

Good luck to us all, certainly, we are going to need it.

One of my new year goals will be, write my posts both in english and spanish, I’ll do my best here.

I haven’t come here that often cause I’m working my ass off ( i said it right?) I’m pencilling AVENGERS THE INITIATIVE, and deadlines are killers.

One of the reasons why I haven’t write things in english, is because lately I’ve been writing about events happening here in Mexico, so most people who can actually attend to them are from here also, but still I believe you are at least entitled to understand what the hell is going on here, so for that I’M SORRY. really.

Now, what this post is all about?

Well, here in Mexico we are all for the LUCHA LIBRE, and we are remembering to one,  IF not the most recognizable of all the wrestlers in Mexican history, EL SANTO.

So, people from COMIKAZE invited a lot of artists from here to draw a rendition to this character, and pretty much, that is what this post is all about. If you want to click in the link, you will see  further info about the whole thing, OK?

Muchachos!! esta noticia me da harto gusto darla, sucede que despues de la reunión de comiqueros en mi humilde morada, como se se puso muy chido el rollo de por fin ponernos a trabajar juntos, cosa que parecía cercano a lo imposible, pero demostrando harto cariño por lo que hacemos y muchísimo respeto por nuestros compañeros de gremio,  y siguiendo la voz de nuestro líder espiritual Bachan, pos que nos ponemos a trabajar y sacamos esta cosa que se llama cadaver exquisito, no les voy a hacer perder el tiempo explicandoles de donde surge y esas cosas, lo que si les digo es que es un ejercicio donde un creativo, comienza una idea, y la plasma, y sin dirección alguna se pasa la estafeta a otro que a su vez hace lo mismo y así sucesivamente hasta concluir una  historia…

Bueno la cosa es que los moneros de México (bueno, no todos) estamos haciendo este rollo, aqui les dejo las 3 que hasta hoy se publicaron, comienza con el planteamiento de BACHAN, sigue con CLEMENT y la tercera es mia, con el color maravilloso de Bachan (gracias por hacerme terminar a  tiempo) pero les dejo el link para que chequen como sigue desarrollandose la historia, cada  3 días.

HOLA GENTE!!!

De nuevo el trabajo me come y apenas tengo tiempo de hacer otras cosas (como hacer este blog), pero en fin, aca les posteo lo que en este momento hago. Como pueden ver me la estoy pasando “re mal” en Paris, donde vivo.
JJJAAAAJA, que tal sono eso? bien no? la verdad es que si lo es, y tambien es cierto que Francisco Herrera y yo estamos trabajando muy fuerte en un proyecto muy importante para una productora de aca, desgraciandamente lo unico que les puedo compartir es que se trata de una pelicula, nada mas, lo siento.

Por otro lado, en nuestra estancia aca , hemos recibido la visita de algunos de nuestros amigos muy queridos, en este caso a Edgar Delgado, el muy famoso monarca del STUDIO F, ha sido increible tenerlo por aca y emocionarnos con el mientras va descubriendo las estampas espectaculares de esta hermosa ciudad (esta es su primera visita a PARIS). Aqui por ejemplo, no pierda usted de vista el ojo vidrioso a punto de dejar rodar la lagrima en su primer encuentro con la MONALISA.

Para finalizar, les dejo otras imagenes de los runaways extraidas de mi moleskine (de nuevo, bocetos) de eso les platico que estoy a la mitad del numero 2, y me siento increible dibujandolo, asi que cuando salga a la venta (agosto) dennos una oportunidad y comprenlo.

Hello people!!!
Again, the work is eating my whole time and I barely have time to do more stuff (like writing this blog), anyway, this is an update of what am doing so far. As you can see I am “so having a bad time” here in Paris, where I actually live.
How did that sound, cool isn’t it? haha. Well, actually, is really cool indeed, also is true to tell you that both Francisco herrera and myself, we are working really hard in this TOP SECRET important project for a French movie production company, unfortunately I can’t reveal what the movie is all about, actually I’m saying to much by saying it is a movie, sorry.

Talking about something else, in our stay here in Paris, we got visitors from home, as you see in this pic, one of them was Edgar Delgado, leader of the Studio F, it has been great to have him hanging around with us here, is awesome to see him getting amazed by the wonders this city reveals at every corner (this is his first visit to Paris). here for example, his about to let a tear drop at his first encounter ever with the enigmatic Monalisa.

To finish this post, i leave you with some more of the runaways sketches, all out from my moleskine, so far I am half way through issue 2, and it feels great to draw this book, so please give us a chance and buy it in August, OK?

Hey people, Happy 2008, I’m back and ready to get the best of this year beginning with this, my first official shot of the runaways. This is a little sketch i did to let the editors know what is my approach to the kids, this may not be the final word on how they look, but hey, is the first one.

Honestly, I hope they keep his way, I like them, even the skrull girl.

Couple days ago I did this sketch to my niece, I liked so much that I decide to post it.

Mike Wieringo is not longer with us, but his talent and friendship will keep us company forever, next year a horde of comic book creators, some of the most talented if I may say so, will pay their respect to the genius of this HUGE ARTIST putting out a book fill with love and familiar images. I’ve been invited by comic book colossus JASON PEARSON, who came out with the idea of paying respect to our friend in the way we know better, drawing!

For that so, i drew this piece to remember the awesome Mike Wieringo, i wanted to do something
that linked us since my very beginning, IMPULSE. As you guys know (and if you not, now you do) he designed
this character along with master Mark Waid, and well, IMPULSE built my career, period.

Hey guys, I was running through my files and I found this, I wanted to share it with you. This is a piece I did to my french publisher Soleil, about one of their creations,LANFEUST.
They at Soleil love the idea of Star Wars, so I did this piece to homage Mr. Drew Struzan, amazing illustrator.
The colors provided by mad genious Leonardo Olea, Olé!!!

I’ve been working in developing a creator own based on fairy tales characters, because of that i think I’ve been more aware of that world, the fantasy world actually.

This piece in particular i did it for my good friend Ann, who manages a comic book store in Belgium, an awesome one indeed. So this is how i want to take you guys with me into the fairy tales world, more coming, keep tune!!!
